I thought of this neat critter in my head the other day. You can't go wrong with yellow and violet. Just some strange armored corvid beast plunging down and taking the evening with him.

i had a simler idea! only it was a dragon, and green, but the angle was close to this!

XD The angle is pretty common I think! Its a great way to get all of the serpentine body in the picture. :)

Love the color scheme too! But maybe not in the same way...

Yellow is just a good all out choice for light, and it's such an opposite to the deep violet/purple-ness. Err, it makes the highlights stand out a ton. And the figure has a lot of pure shade... so I guess if you wanted to keep any form at all and have no linework, that's the way to go. I think you used white on the eye, perhaps? But either way, the backlighting that kicks in at the bottom is a nice touch. The way you put in a bit of it on the tail, but avoid backlighting the right wing sorta has me going "huh?" but no biggie. the left wing seems a little more proper, to have little or no light under it.

The leg and tail and eye are easily my favorite parts. Man, brilliant... for such a tall image, you make it easy to take the whole thing in. I mean, distant and well lit meets up close and dark from the top to the bottom.

I wonder if there were some clever details you didn't get a chance to put in? I notice you went over some areas and put in little lines here and there. If you ever revisit this guy, I've love to know.

Really grand job :D
